Bridging Science and Public Understanding

INGV mockUp

CHALLENGE

INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology) needed to create a concise and accessible resource that would explain the activities of Italy’s earthquake and tsunami monitoring centers. The goal was to present the role and functions of these centers to a non-expert audience using a single A4 sheet.

SOLUTION

The Scribing.it team worked closely with INGV researchers and experts to select and synthesize the essential data, highlighting the expertise and equipment used in the monitoring centers. With our expertise in data-driven storytelling, we designed a clear and effective infographic with text and graphics that made complex concepts easy to understand, without sacrificing scientific accuracy. The project also involved carefully selecting the most significant information to emphasize the importance of seismic risk prevention.

CAPABILITIES

Data-Driven Storytelling
Expertise in extracting, selecting, and synthesizing complex data to create clear and meaningful visual narratives.

Collaboration with Experts
Ability to work closely with scientists and professionals to understand content and translate it for a broader audience.

Visual Communication for Public Engagement
Designing infographics and visual materials that balance scientific precision and accessibility, making complex topics understandable to a non-specialized audience.

IMPACT

The result was a visually appealing product that received praise from INGV and attracted interest from various audiences, from specialists to the general public. This tool opened new opportunities for INGV to communicate its crucial role in managing and communicating seismic risk and helped the agency become more recognizable and relevant, with an accessible yet rigorous language. With this approach, we highlight our expertise in engaging with experts and our ability to translate advanced concepts into universal language that resonates with everyone.
